All I See

I don't want to be alone
The end may not be all too near
Yet the past has made it crystal clear
The possibility is possible
Quite so I fear
My cunning plans
Mere parlor tricks
Never coming to be
What they were meant to be
They say it is all me
However
Maybe society
Takes some of the blame
Work is work
Not some game
Years of work might not equal fame
But shouldn't somebody know my name
It isn't that nobody cares
Simply nobody is there
Seeing how badly you fair
No one wants to see
One does not want to be
A burden
People long to hear the words
And when they're spoken
People are aghast
"The Gumption"
They say
Though without that reaction
There can be no action
If nobody speaks
Then isn't everyone alone?
